Nearly one out of five workers say they have lost weight in their current jobs — but 43% continue to pack on the pounds, according to a CareerBuilder survey.
Of the 5,600 workers polled, 24% blamed stress on the job for their weight gain, but that was down from 32% last year. Here are the other factors they cited for the extra pounds:
- Sitting at a desk most of the day: 36%
- Eating out regularly: 16%
- Skipping meals because of time constraints: 13%
- Workplace celebrations (potlucks, birthdays, etc…): 12%
CareerBuilder said companies, recognizing the risks of overweight employees, are getting on the healthy worker bandwagon with 28% offering gym passes, workout facilities or wellness benefits.
