He knew he wanted to play: “When I was 18 I started playing guitar and got hooked on it. I studied music in college and got some decent gigs while I was still in school. I started being able to pay my rent with gig money and that was all I needed to go down that rabbit’s hole.”
Musical influences: Led Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Scofield, Jeff Beck, Grant Green.

Adrian Musolf
Age: 38
Lives in: Costa Mesa
Instrument: Drummer
Playing for: 29 years. “I started when I was 9. After I drove my mom nuts beating on my legs, cereal bowl, couch arms, cats, etc, she bought me a starter Sears drum kit. After about three days, the kit was unrecognizable, and she couldn’t afford another one, so she enrolled me in the school band. I have been playing ever since.”
Other jobs: Construction supervisor
Free time activities: “I am a dad to Grant, the eight-year-old.”
Other bands he’s played in: “A friend made me aware once that music is like a wheel of fortune … as long as you have a space on the wheel, it is bound to stop on or near your number. Since I have been playing in groups keeping my space on the wheel, the wheel has stopped near me several times. I have had the opportunity to see several groups’ number come up, sometimes in the rehearsal studio RIGHT next to me, including, Stone Temple Pilots, No Doubt, Fastball, and Korn.”
Thoughts on his musical career: “I will always play music, whether I am selling out the enormodome, or packing them in at the cave.”
Musical influences: Billy Martin, Stewart Copeland, Tom Waits, Keith Moon, Manu Katché, and Curly Howard.

Aaron Barnes
Age: 24

Playing for: Eight years
Other jobs: Gives bass lessons.
Free time activities: Studies music and hangs out with his girlfriend.
Other bands he’s played in: “Several over the years. The Middle Class Heros and Sam Sasso and Kettleblack most recently.”
He knew he wanted to play: “When I heard the super-heavy bass line in ‘Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2’ by Pink Floyd, I knew I wanted to be a bassist. I really liked the idea of laying down these huge fat notes underneath the rest of the music and making the groove happen.”
Musical influences: Paul Jackson, Phil Lesh, Charles Mingus, Chris Wood.
