Big Time

Sculptor Richard MacDonald thinks big. The artist held a one-man show entitled, “Larger Than Life” at Dawson Cole Fine Art, the gallery in Laguna Beach named after his grandson. At the private champagne reception, MacDonald talked about his three new larger-than-life sculptures before dramatically unveiling them to the fascinated crowd of collectors and guests. Admiring Flutist Heroic, one of the featured pieces that MacDonald has been “carving and chipping away at for years” was Los Angeles resident Glorya Kaufman of KB Homes. She commented, “He is a true hero of mine. I love the fluidity, balance, detail, and creativity in his work. The pieces are so life-like. They dance, and I love dance.” A portion of proceeds benefited Arts for Abused Children – a Los Angeles-based charity. Photos by Ann Chatillon.
