T
he Irvine Spectrum is now home to the third 18/8, the men’s hair care and grooming center where guys can be guys. Founder and president Ron Love talks tresses. How is 18/8 different than a traditional barber shop?
We have produced a place for guys to get privacy and attention, but also a full range of services and solutions. We offer MANicures, but also have experts in thinning hair.
Is there anything different about the new location?
We opened a MedSpa in our Irvine Spectrum facility with a separate entrance to accommodate men and women. We offer laser hair removal, waxing, Botox, and dermal fillers.
What is the most popular service at 18/8?
Our Executive Style, which includes a hot towel; [hair] style; and head, neck and shoulder massage.
What does 18/8 mean?
It’s a story of transforming from one place to a better state. Literally, it’s the formula for stainless steel and we like the way it sounds. But we really like the metaphor: taking ordinary steel that rusts and transforming it with the right formula to something that is beautiful and functional.
