ove over, witches of Wicked – The Phantom’s back in town! Wicked may be the current darling of Broadway, but Andrew Lloyd Webber’s acclaimed musical sensation The Phantom of the Opera has staying power. The show turns 20 this year, and it’s as popular as ever. Need proof? Catch the current Broadway touring production that materializes at the Orange County Performing Artscenter for a four-week run March 26-April 19.

Over the past 20 years, The Phantom of the Opera has been seen by more than 80 million people in 24 countries, generating more than $3 billion in revenue, which makes it the most successful entertainment venture of the 20th century. So what’s the secret to Phantom’s longevity? Simple: the combination of a great story (based on the classic novel by Gaston Leroux), imaginative staging and memorable music.

And then there’s the stellar cast, which this time around includes a familiar face: D.C. Anderson, a noted cabaret singer and recording artist (his eighth CD was recently released) who, for the past two decades, has performed the role of Monsieur Andre in touring productions of Phantom.

“I love singing with an orchestra, telling a story that audiences are excited to hear, and working with people that are at such a high level,” explains Anderson of his long love affair with Phantom.
