On April 8, 6:30-9 p.m., Village Green Foods in Irvine will host an edu-Cajun-nal evening with chef John Folse of the Research Chefs Association (RCA.) Wine and appetizers will be offered prior to the cooking demonstration that will use “unique ingredients from Louisiana’s swamp floor pantry.” Cost, $50 per person. Wild & Crazy Taco Night reappears April 17, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Always a sell-out, the evening includes 23 Orange County celebrity chefs, including a few newcomers this year, who will elevate the taco to new heights. Margaritas, cervezas, and water will quench the thirst. For donors who purchase the new $150 package, there will be a VIP party an hour before the event. Regular admission is $60, paid in advance. On April 12, the ENO-Versity “wine class,” held in the chic wine room at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel (949-240-2000), will highlight the Boyd Family Vineyards. April 26, Flora Springs Winery will be discussed.
On Thursday nights at Kimera Restaurant/Lounge (949-261-1222) a DJ begins at 7:30 p.m. On Friday and Saturday nights, the restaurant takes on a club atmosphere with a DJ from 10 p.m. to closing.
With April designated as Donate Life Month, Pete Truxaw and Tim McCune, co-founders of Salt Creek Grille in Dana Point (949-661-7799), will donate 10% of the restaurant’s entire proceeds from brunch, lunch and dinner on Sunday, April 27, for scholarships to the national Transplant Games which take place in July.
The Paul Douglas Band performs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 8:30 p.m.-midnight, at the Palm Terrace Lounge at The Island Hotel (949-759-0808.)
