Taste of Ladera Returns

The south Orange County food and music event is back in Ladera Ranch May 3.

Hollywood U2 is one of many artists performing at the 4th Annual Taste of Ladera. The event features a flashback retro theme, samples of cuisine and children's activities.

If so -- and even if not -- you may want to drop by Ladera Ranch on May 3 for the 4th Annual Taste of Ladera, featuring restaurant food booths, specialty vendors, and this year, New Wave band, Berlin.

The event, which takes place at Founders Park (28243 Sellas Road North) from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., was founded by Ladera resident Michelle Patterson and some neighbors as a way to give back to the community.

This year, event proceeds will benefit 16 charitable organizations, including  Capistrano Unified School District Foundation, The Ladera Education Foundation, The Tinkerbell Guild, Laura’s House, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, The Moms Club of Ladera, The Unforgettables Foundation, and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Berlin performs at 6 p.m., but if you're not a fan, there will be other live acts to see, including Hollywood U2 (a U2 tribute band)

and pop-punk band, The Go-Sheilas. Also, there will be plenty to taste and drink. Ladera Ranch's Infusion Restaurant and Bar will be offering up martinis and samples of some specialty dishes; and Riptide Rockin’ Sushi & Teppan Grills will offer specialty cut rolls and hand rolls, just to name a couple.

Kids are welcome. Children’s activities will include face-painting, a gold fish toss, art and music classes, temporary tattooing, a dunk tank and photo booths.

Tickets are available at the door and online at www.tasteofladera.com. Admission is $5 (children under 12 are free), participation tickets are $3 (one ticket buys one taste or one activity for children), and VIP tickets are $40 before May 1, $50 after (these include front of stage access and access to private bars/restrooms).

There will be a free shuttle service with pick-up locations at BeachFire Bar and Grill (25682 Crown Valley Pkwy, Building I, Ladera Ranch) and Newport Rib Company at Ladera Ranch (27742 Antonio Parkway, Suite K7, Ladera Ranch).
