Get Your Geek On for Anaheim
|
It's time to channel your inner geek, because Anaheim is looking for some seriously technical thinkers.
Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle recently unveiled The Great Anaheim Apps Challenge, a contest where program developers, technical thinkers and the Internet community at large are asked to come up with ideas on new mobile and Web-based applications, aka “apps.”
These apps are intended for Anaheimians to get in better touch with their city through the latest online gadgetry.
There are five categories and you can win cash and gift prizes in more than one. For example, a first place win in every category adds up to $2,500. First-, second- and third-place winners are chosen for each category and there are more than 100 honorable mentions.
The categories are: Water & Power; Parks & Recreation; Public Safety; Tourism/Sports/Entertainment; and Anything Anaheim, for ideas that don't fit into any of the other categories.
The contest is open until November 30. It’s open to anyone – age 16 and over, throughout the U.S.
The city's committee will review ideas and pick the winners in December; the winning ideas will be posted on anaheimapps.org and winners will be contacted January 5, 2010.
