Animal Blueprint Company is for pet owners who think their beloved four-legged friends are a real work of art.

Founder Robert Redding, of San Juan Capistrano, says his company combines animals, design and architecture by “blueprinting” the animal’s anatomy in drawing and providing details of the specific breed’s history and defining characteristics. Redding offers portraits for three types of animals: dogs, where over 200 breeds are included, cats and even horses. Each of these hand-drawn prints is inspired by mid-century architectural blueprints and modeled after prints from the 1950s.

Custom prints are also available, and all one needs to do is submit two shots of their dearest pet, along with some personal information on the animal. Drawings are accompanied with a one-inch thick solid wood frame, available in mahogany finish or black for cat and dog portraits, and black, brown and mahogany for horse portraits.

Animal Blueprint Company does more than just immortalize man’s best friend, though, it also helps save them. Although Redding shares a love for all animals, Animal Blueprint Company is giving a percentage of every piece sold from the American Mutt series to local canine shelters and habitat groups. Redding rescued his own dog, a mutt named Maddie, from a local shelter.
