    El Viento Foundation, a Huntington Beach-based service organization that provides academic and enrichment programs to school-age children and young adults in the highly Hispanic, low-income neighborhood of Oak View in Huntington Beach, held its fourth annual Golf Classic and netted more than $60,000 for the cause. The tournament, presented by Meruelo Enterprises, drew 120 golfers, who enjoyed a day of play, an exciting live auction and raffle. Among attendees were Bonnie Roohk, left, a member of the Golden West College Foundation and an Eagle sponsor of the tournament, and Mary Baley, right, a member of the Noon Rotary Club of Huntington Beach, which provided several volunteers for the event.

    Casa Teresa's Amuse Bouche Culinary Challenge, Little Bites That Delight, drew 110 guests to the Hyatt Regency Irvine for a night featuring Le Cirque performances and delectable cuisine prepared by the five competing Orange County chefs participating in the challenge. The event netted $17,295 for Casa Teresa and its mission to provide a temporary home and ongoing support for pregnant women 18 years of age and older, who are homeless and have nowhere else to turn.     Always great fun, the Girl Scout Council of Orange County held its annual Urban Adventure Badge Bash at The Clubhouse Restaurant in Costa Mesa with more than 300 guests earning Urban Adventure badges and doing things like making gourmet pizza with an executive chef, identifying signature drinks, wine tasting, tarot cards, karaoke, magic, and swing dancing. Guests also tapped into their inner detective to earn a Clubhouse Clue badge with the help of some OC “celebrities,” who played characters in the Clue Game. They included, from left, Peggy Goldwater Clay as The Community Ambassador, Judy Rosener as The Popular Professor and Ed Arnold as The Notable News Anchor. The effort netted $135,000 to help local scouting.

    The Pacific Chorale's A Dickens Feast 200-guest gala at The Center Club in Costa Mesa followed the chorale's annual holiday concert, Tis the Season!, at the Orange County Performing Arts Center's Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Gala co-chairs Lori and John Loftus and their committee had guests greeted at the club by 49 singers from the Southern California Children's Intermediate Chorus singing songs of the season and orchestrated a festively decorated dining area and enticing feast, with an English trifle finale. A quartet of Pacific Chorale strolling carolers completed the Victorian-inspired ambiance.     The Angelitos Card program, an annual benefit organized by Angelitos de Oro, a volunteer women's auxiliary that supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, featured a seven-day shopping program that netted $223,000 to help the charity match volunteers to boys and girls who are in need of a mentor and role model. With more than 130 South Coast Plaza retailers and restaurants offering 20% savings to purchasers of the Angelitos Card, the effort proved a big success.     The Tiger Woods Foundation's Fifth Annual Block Party at the Grove of Anaheim drew more than 600 guests and netted over $500,000 for the Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim. Always a standout, this year's fundraiser featured a mouthwatering dinner orchestrated by acclaimed Texan chef Tim Love and entertainment by well-known singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow. The event honored Jamie McCourt with the Champion Award.

    Hosted by Friends of the Orange Coast Interfaith Shelter, 160 guests gathered at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach for a retrospective of song and dance through the award-winning documentary Hollywood Singing and Dancing, which won Outstanding Achievement in Documentary at the Newport Beach Film Festival. Those involved in the making of the documentary included, from left, Director Mark McLaughlin, actress Lesley Ann Warren, who was featured in the film in her blockbuster role in Victor Victoria and Associate Producer Bryan Cooper, known for his documentary work. The $7,500 net proceeds benefited homeless families at the Orange Coast Interfaith Shelter in Costa Mesa.
