The Art of OCMA
Sometime before the end of the decade an iconic new building will rise on the campus of Segerstrom Center for the Arts, signaling the move of Orange County Museum of Art from Newport Beach to Costa Mesa. When the museum opens, there’s little doubt guests at OCMA’s 2015 Art of Dining gala fundraiser will be among the names seen on its walls and galleries as major donors of collections and capital to the museum.
The name Segerstrom will be among them, certainly. Henry Segerstrom was honored at the gala, which was held at South Coast Plaza. His son Anton thanked the museum and guests for honoring his visionary father. OC artist Tony DeLap was also honored and in attendance at the festivities, which began with a reception at presenting sponsor Louis Vuitton’s boutique. Dinner from chef Joachim Splichal was served on the beautiful Bridge of Gardens followed by Art After Dark, an afterparty DJ’d by Jason Bentley. The gala’s major sponsors were South Coast Plaza and BMW, with Coast magazine the media sponsor. Proceeds benefit programs that bring 6,000 OC students to OCMA annually.
