Husband-and-wife team Kelly Tunstall and Ferris Plock live and work in San Francisco but present their work internationally. Their collective art displays are presented under the name “KeFe,” drawn from the first two letters of their respective first names. In their upcoming show “Aquatics,” Tunstall and Plock focus on the theme of the ocean and underwater creatures. Their preferred medium is a combination of acrylic, collage, spray paint, pencil, pen and ink, and gold leaf. Gallery open noon to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. 1175 S. The 11th annual “Just Plein Fun” event will take place at Debra Huse Gallery and feature eight award-winning artists from across the country. These artists will paint plein air scenes around Balboa Island and beyond from August 1 to 5. Finished works will remain on display at the Debra Huse Gallery through August 29. New this year is “The Big Brush Off” which invites all artists of all ages to join in the plein air painting on the bayfront on August 7 from 10 a.m. to noon. This Festival of Arts off-site gallery will showcase an exhibit of coastal scenes from the Festival of Arts permanent art collection. Historically acclaimed artists including  R.A. Benson, Joane Cromwell, Roger Folk, Ben Kutcher, Louise Leyden, Brian Day, Agnes Copeland and Phil Dike will be represented in this show, titled “Coastal Dreams.” Exhibit will remain on display through October 10. Huntington Beach Art Center

The third annual artist council exhibition at the Huntington Beach Art Center features over 100 artists who work in a variety of media. This juried exhibition is titled “Rhythm, Sound and Music” and will be on display through August 27. JoAnne Artman Gallery

James Verbicky is a Polish Canadian artist who works in the United States. His latest work will be on display at JoAnne Artman Gallery in a show titled “Semiotics.” Verbicky’s multimedia works combine elements of collage with layers of resin and dye. He said in a statement that his paintings “bridge the gap between sculpture and painting.” “Semiotics” will be on display through August 31. Bowers Museum

A new exhibition that contains pieces as old as 4,500 years. “Mummies of the World” features real mummies and artifacts from around the world and engages visitors through interactive and multimedia exhibits about the process of mummification. Orange County Museum of Art

See the breadth of America’s modernist vision, beginning with art from the late 19th century and ending with work by abstract expressionists. This exhibition is organized by The Phillips Collection and looks at art from the 1860s that set the course for modern American art in the 1960s. Featured artists include Milton Avery, Alexander Calder, Richard Diebenkorn, Thomas Eakins, Helen Frankenthaler, Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper and Georgia O’Keeffe. Al Jarreau and Lucy Woodward

Seven-time Grammy award-winner Al Jarreau performs in concert at the Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach. As part of the summer concert series sponsored by Bank of the West, Jarreau, whom Time magazine calls “the greatest jazz singer alive,” will perform a medley of songs from his expansive career. “A Night of Music”

This traveling music event features international Vietnamese artists such as Australian iTunes No.1 artist and classical pianist, Van Anh Nguyen, Fresno Grand Opera concertmaster, Thi Nguyen, soprano, and mantra singer Sangeeta Teresa Mai and featured young artist and recent graduate of Cal State Fullerton School of Music, soprano Belinda Gonzales. “Raiders of the Lost Ark” with the Pacific Symphony

“Under the Stars” at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center

Visitors can spend the warm summer nights listening to jazz, folk and country music at the Muckenthaler’s outdoor amphitheater. During August, catch Yerak, a band that combines traditional ethnic instruments with classical Western instruments, and the Orange Empire Chorus, which sings old standards, contemporary tunes, and comedy songs all in four-part barbershop style. Pacific Chorale Choral Festival

Up to 400 singers from the greater Southern California community will join members of the Pacific Chorale for this free public performance of Brahms’ “German Requiem” at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. “All Shook Up”
