The 21st annual Balboa Island Parade kicked off the month of June on the Island on a bright, warm, perfect day. This year’s theme, Star Spangled Islands, attracted over a hundred entrants ranging from vintage autos and army vehicles to school bands, local politicians, Labrador retrievers and their attendants, and Pearl Harbor survivors. Rock bands and dance groups (hip-hop, swing and hula dancers) entertained the crowd of enthusiastic flag-wavers that lined Marine Avenue.
