With so many great breweries to choose from, and on top of that, a delightful amount of craft beer options, it can be difficult to settle on just one place when going out for a drink with friends. But luckily, for one day, malt aficionados will have a chance to revel in a seemingly endless amount of local brewery options.

On Sunday, February 23, Newport Beach Brewing Company will be giving craft beer enthusiasts an opportunity to support the community and taste local flavors at the Brewfest 2014. Guests will be able to enjoy unlimited samples of seasonal, limited-release and special brews presented by over 10 breweries.

The event’s lead coordinator and Newport Brewing Co. brewer Derek Bougie selected these breweries to give guests a fresh and well-rounded experience. The event will allow attendees to discover and taste craft beer from breweries located not only throughout Orange County, but neighboring counties as well.

“I like to go for new breweries, ones that have opened recently, ones that don’t have a lot of exposure,” Bougie says. “By utilizing this, there’s 200 people that can come to this event and if there’s a brewery there that they’ve never heard of or have never been to, it’s a win, not just for us but for craft beer in general.”

Some of the breweries that will be taking part in the event are the recently opened Heroes in Riverside, Bootlegger’s Brewery in Fullerton, New English Brewing Company in San Diego, and I & I Brewing in Chino, which is returning to the event this year after rave reviews.

The festival-like event will not only be about experiencing new flavors, but also networking and gaining insider knowledge. Once guests are inside, the brewing company will transform into an educational rendezvous. Guests will have the unique opportunity to ask questions and learn about craft beer from the brewers themselves.

Those looking to enjoy Newport’s restaurant as well can enjoy the full-menu for an additional price.

Brewfest 2014 will take place from 12 to 4 p.m. at Newport Beach Brewing Company, located at 2920 Newport Blvd., Newport Beach. Tickets are limited and can be purchased for $25 plus service fees through eventbrite.com or in-person at the venue. Proceeds from the event benefit the Surfrider Foundation.
