Over the past decade we’ve seen a few worthy nonprofits that had been doing good work out of the limelight become highly visible and popular with philanthropists, volunteers and tastemakers. OC’s Court Appointed Advocates (CASA) is one of those groups, and none are more deserving of the accolades and fundraising boost that being buzz-worthy brings.

Some 800 guests gathered at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach for CASA’s Celebration of Children Black & White Ball, which netted more than $880,000 for the organization’s work as advocates for kids in the foster care and court systems. The evening had a glamorous aesthetic with a touch of celebrity chic, thanks to the organizers (co-chairs Britt Meyer, Wendy Tenenbaum, Lourdes Nark, and Nancy Eaton) and honorees, the An family.

Owners of AnQi restaurant at South Coast Plaza, the House of An was recognized as outstanding corporation for their generosity to CASA, and the incredibly chic Elizabeth An helped draw Grammy-nominated singer Taylor Dayne, who performed at the event, and actor Alan Thicke, who presented awards. Lourdes and Ted Nark were honored as Children’s Champions and the keynote speaker was Laura Schroff.
