STEPHEN HAMMERS BECAME a name partner at Price, Crooke, Gary & Hammers in 2007. The AV-rated firm has provided business, estate planning and real estate expertise to clients for nearly 45 years, many of whom are high net worth individuals with deep roots in Orange County. "The retiring senior litigator, Don Price, was a skilled and accomplished litigator, and well known in the community. I had some big shoes to fill, and there was really only one way to do that: win."

Objectively speaking, it would appear Hammers is accomplishing that goal. The firm publishes his results on its website. "At the end of the day, as litigators, all we really have for the purpose of measurement are our results. So when I meet new clients, or even longtime clients who haven't had the unfortunate experience of litigation yet, I offer my verdict list. I feel that's the bottom line in terms of what we can offer in litigation."

While Hammers uses associates from time to time, he prefers to try cases himself, both to simplify matters and keep costs down. ÒI had a contract dispute before Judge Alarcon downtown. I looked over and saw the opponentÕs trial counsel, its motion counsel, and their jury consultant, all sitting at the counsel table. On our side, it was just me. My client, a former Director of the Metropolitan Water District, seemed concerned by that. That didn't last too long,Ó says Hammers, who won the case, defeated the opponentÕs appeal, and obtained the client's attorney's fees.

Now well into his third decade of practice, Hammers has focused on real estate and business matters throughout his career. He is a Life Member of the Million Dollar Advocates and the Top Trial Lawyers in America, with a 'Superb' rating of 10.0 from AVVO.com.
