As many believed the Mayan calendar predicted, the world was supposed to come to an end on December 21, 2012.

If you’re reading this, it didn’t.

Somebody who wasn’t expecting an ending of apocalyptic proportions? Louix Dor Dempriey. Here’s why.

The spiritual master, who also serves as the spiritual director and president/CEO of the Louix Dor Dempriey Foundation in Laguna Hills, based his beliefs on very simple reasoning. “At this time most people still live in and thrive on fear, rather than on faith and love,” says Dor Dempriey. “Upon seeing that the Maya had not left record of the new era beginning, human minds assumed the worst. Just look at the news programs in all media for corroboration of this. How much of it is positive and uplifting?”

It’s a rhetorical question, of course, but one already begins to see where Dor Dempriey is headed: Just because the Mayan calendar was ending after a 5,125-year cycle known as the Long Count didn’t mean that we were about to be visited by a horrific ending of devastation and destruction. It could be an apocalypse of another kind, however – one that involves a new age of positivity. “This is a momentous and exciting time – the antithesis of doom and gloom,” says Dor Dempriey. “The phoenix of a new era is rising through the crumbling of an old paradigm that no longer serves, one of selfishness and non-loving motives and ways of being. Moving out of the Age of Darkness and into the Age of Enlightenment is something to celebrate.”

Dor Dempriey’s perspective is no doubt influenced by his work at the Louix Dor Dempriey Foundation, which exists, according to Dor Dempriey, to spread and share tools “to help heal mental and emotional wounds that have bred distortion within human consciousness and proliferated unnecessary suffering in people’s lives.” With that mission in mind, Dor Dempriey’s goal is to help people attain self-mastery and to live in a state of inner peace and harmony, and ultimately, to spread this to others. “We all get exactly what we ask for,” says Dor Dempriey. “I always tell people that if they are unhappy with their circumstances, it would be wise to re-examine and shift one’s goals and objectives.”

If we’re all still alive, the end of the Mayan calendar may help. Three cheers for the end of the Long Count!
