Our dogs are our family. We love them like our children – and treat them as such.
So for many of us dog owners, it’s quite the disappointment when we can’t take them everywhere we’d like. Fortunately, there are some areas in Orange County where we can spend the day with our pups and get some fresh air at the same time.

Carbon Canyon Regional Park
4442 Carbon Canyon Rd., Brea
Hours: 7 a.m.-6 p.m. (fall and winter); 7 a.m.-9 p.m. (spring and summer)
Dogs must be restrained on a six-foot leash at all times. The park includes a 1.1-mile long nature trail to the beautiful Redwood Grove.

Clark Regional Park

Hours: 7 a.m.-6 p.m. (fall and winter); 7 a.m.-9 p.m. (spring and summer)
The park houses land ranging from open grass to sandstone cliffs and hiking trails. Dogs must be restrained on a leash at all times.

Mile Square Regional Park

Hours: 7 a.m.-6:30 p.m. (fall and winter); 7 a.m.-9 p.m. (spring and summer)
The park includes wilderness areas surrounding hiking trails and an urban environment filled with golf courses and baseball and softball fields. Dogs must be restrained on a leash at all times.

Craig Regional Park
3300 State College Blvd., Fullerton
Hours: 7 a.m.-6 p.m. (fall and winter); 7 a.m.-9 p.m. (spring and summer)
Dogs must be kept on a six-foot leash and under the owner’s control at all times. Owners are responsible for cleanup. The park has a trail consisting of walkways, roads and some natural surface trails. Hikers can cover a hilly course loop of approximately 3.5 miles.

Harriet M. Weider Regional Park

Native plants and scenic views surround the hiking trails and walkways throughout the park. Dogs must be on a leash at all times.

The park has concrete pathways that spread throughout the vicinity. Dogs must be restrained on a leash at all times.

The park’s trails are enhanced with an overflow of trees and wildlife. Make sure to keep your dog on a six-foot leash at all times.

Laguna Niguel Regional Park

The hiking trails are softened with scenic views of trees and a 44-acre lake. Dogs must remain restrained on a six-foot leash at all times.

O’Neill Regional Park

Surrounded heavily by scrub oak and mountain mahogany hillsides, the hiking trails are situated between Trabuco and Live Oak Canyons. Keep in mind to restrain your dogs on a six-foot leash.

Quail Hill Preserve

The wilderness trail is a two-mile natural surface trail at the foot of Quail Hill. Dogs must be on leash at all times.
