The Anaheim Ducks returned home Monday, May 12 after winning both games in Los Angeles to even the Western Conference second round series at two apiece. It figured to be a spirited affair and the sellout crowd of over 17,000 was not disappointed as the Ducks won 4-3. Led by winger Devante Smith-Pelly (two goals) and rookie goalie John Gibson (stopped 39 of 42 shots on goal), the Ducks outlasted the Kings to lead the series 3-2. Teemu Selänne understated the situation when he said, “We have to find an easier way to win.” The Ducks are a win away from the Western Conference finals. The teams meet again on Wednesday, May 14 in Los Angeles.
