Sustainable Shadow Box from Urban Decay

With eyes being the windows to the soul and all, you can never own too many fun and colorful cosmetics to help make them sparkle. The makeup world has plenty to offer, so it’s important to be discriminating.

I’m not typically won over by makeup gimmicks – like “travel sized” and artwork on makeup cases – but Urban Decay’s funky flash sucked me right in through their new Sustainable Shadow Box and the returning 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil sets for the holiday season.

The Sustainable Shadow Box ($36), containing 10 eye shadows, shadow brush and mirror, all in an artwork-adorned, slide-open, bamboo case, is not only eco-conscious but incredibly efficient. It fits in my own fairly compact purse and contains everything you need for a quick color spruce-up for those drab lids. Colors range from hot purple to more neutral tones. The kit also comes with a Eyeshadow Primer Potion small enough to fit in a pocket, so a purse is no problem.

24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil set from Urban Decay

It’s been a while since I’ve liked a cosmetic as much as the 24/7 pencils ($29 for a set of five). The VIP set of five brightly colored travel-size pencils have been resurrected from the last holiday season due to demand, and Velvet Rope (with more neutral shades) have been added to the collection.

These pencils really do stay on all day – and even through the night if you forget the makeup remover – and do fit anywhere. They’re made with moisturizers like jojoba oil and vitamin E. They are blendable, glide on easily and can be sharpened with a cosmetic sharpener.

Ever since I’ve started using them, I haven’t worn much eye shadow. The bold purple, blue and green pencils have been enough to make my eyes pop without the need for any other cosmetic colors.

Both are available through Sephora
