Fashionistas from Newport Beach to New York City know the styles parading down designer runways for fall create a cacophony of competing trends. From androgynous power suits to Goth glamour, Victorian primness to ’80s “new” retro, a case can be made for it all. Picking fashion has much in common with collecting works of art – the choice is always what is enduring, delighting to the eye, flattering in the form. This is why the Laguna Art Museum exhibit “Marcia Hafif: From the Inventory” makes an ideal environment to revel in the best of the season’s bold and beautiful couture. In the words of style icon Diana Vreeland, “We are not looking for endless variety – we are looking for fashion.”
