The third annual Field of Honor, honoring Armed Forces Day, opened May 17 at Castaways Park in Newport Beach. Put on by the Newport Harbor Exchange Club, visitors celebrate those who have served our country and memorialize those who lost their lives with 1776 American flags adorning the walkways.
Students from six Newport Mesa schools attended the dedication May 17 and listened to the heroic stories of Capt. R.B. Alexander and Sgt. Ryan Alexander. Both veterans were wounded in Afghanistan.
Weekend events include presentations honoring the Tuskegee Airmen and a showing of the movie All For Liberty.
