In the lush jungle where Laos, Myanmar and northern Thailand meet is where glamping and one of the world’s most high-end hotel chains also have come to congregate. It seems a busy intersection, but the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is actually a unique and glorious retreat that could leave you feeling a little like a colonialist. There are just 15 high-end, open-air tents in the camp where you can greet the sunrise with a ride along the Mekong River on the back of an elephant and follow it up with a 90-minute massage and soak in a giant copper tub or swim in the pool. Thai, Laotian and Burmese foods are served at the resort’s Nong Yao Restaurant, and cocktails at the Burma Bar or wine tasting in the wine cellar. Packages start at $2,489 for a two-night stay with all amenities.
