Orange County offers many local getaways, great eateries and other gems that are just a tap, pinch and scroll away. Unfortunately the iPad as a go-to, OC source is not always so obvious. One needs to discover, draw out the iPad potential for better OC living.

Here is a fine map- and graphical icon-laden service for those seeking newish hotspots. Gowalla finds your location on the fly, providing easy symbols for short attention spans on its Google map. Touch and reveal new eats, interesting landmarks and locations on your to-do list. For example, icons of shopping carts near Jamboree Road and Barranca Parkway reveal a choice of similar needs, Target and Costco. “Check in” using Twitter and Facebook options. Inform friends instantly that you just checked in at… well, wherever the iPad takes you.
