Families who wish to live in Newport Beach have always gravitated toward the family-oriented Harbor View neighborhood.

Befitting the neighborhood’s name, every street in Harbor View is named for a famous port-of-call, such as Port Bristol, Port Charles or Port Trinity. The neighborhood includes outdoor barbecue areas, parks, children’s playgrounds, basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields. Two clubhouses each have an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a kiddie pool.

Harbor View Homes is also the only neighborhood that has its own school within the community: the award-winning Andersen Elementary School exists only for local residences and is the top API-ranked school in Newport-Mesa.

“The biggest draws are the open greenbelts, pools and Andersen school” said Stephanie Lowe, who grew up and lives in the neighborhood. Lowe, who with Heather Kidder specializes in Harbor View Homes real estate, said that annual community events like Easter egg hunts, a Fourth of July parade and picnic, and Halloween pumpkin patch create a warm, small-town atmosphere.

Lowe said the neighborhood, whose more than 900 homes were originally built from 1969 to 1973, “has a wide range of people, from original owners who purchased their homes in the early 1970s to new young families eager to get into the community.”

The price point for the neighborhood has a wide range too: anywhere from $1,500,000 for an original home to $5,000,000 for a custom property. So far this year, 23 homes have sold, and 18 more are currently available for sale.
