The Harvesters Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon is one of the premier philanthropic gatherings in Orange County because it brings together essential elements of a successful event. A fashion show presented and sponsored by South Coast Plaza and featuring its most sought-after luxury brands is a must. Certainly there should be stunningly stylish socialites in attendance, with dedicated volunteers and event chairwomen (Melissa Knode and Susan Croul) making it all happen. And a must-see setting to add a wow factor is required: For this 24th annual charitable gathering it was Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
The most important element, though, is a worthy cause. In the case of the Harvesters event, it’s supporting Second Harvest Food Bank’s mission to end hunger in Orange County. The luncheon and fashion show raised $680,000, 100 percent of which goes to Second Harvest. So what’s that mean? One midday get-together, and all that goes into it, will enable Second Harvest to provide 1.6 million meals to hungry kids, seniors, the working poor, the homeless, veterans and families.
