Next time you’re flying out of LAX, head up a day early to reconnect with Los Angeles, then book a room at the coolest of airport hotels. Plush it is not, but this contemporary boutique includes everything a mod-property should (iPod docking stations, free internet, live DJs) and more. Don’t miss the vintage video games or the sheep in the lobby.

www.malibubeachinn.com
Just in time for the re-opening of the Malibu pier, billionaire movie-and-music mogul David Geffen opened the doors of his elite beachside retreat. Only hotel guests and Carbon Beach Club members will have access to the hotel’s restaurant, patio and private beach.

This April, the Kimpton Group will unveil Hotel Palomar. What used to be the Doubletree Westwood has been improved to include more suites (with up-to-the-chin Fuji soak tubs) and a destination spa. But the hotel’s biggest claim to fame is its status as the first green hotel in Los Angeles.

The London West Hollywood

www.thelondonla.com
First New York, now L.A. — this April, LXR Hotels will open the London West Hollywood, bringing Tinseltown some British style (David Collins did the design) and cuisine (a Gordon Ramsay restaurant will anchor the property).
