Welcome to the 2016 Philharmonic House of Design! Located in the spectacular Strand at Headlands in Dana Point, this is the 24th in a list of successful and beautiful homes that have made possible our nationally-recognized Youth Music Education Programs. These grade-specific programs are offered free of charge to every public and private school student in Orange County. We thank you for helping to make that possible by purchasing tickets and supporting our efforts.

This gorgeous Coastal Mediterranean home has been magically transformed by 15 renowned interior designers into a masterpiece of craftsmanship. A total of 8,656 square feet, the house boasts large rooms with sweeping ocean views and a feeling of lightness enhanced by a relaxing décor of simplicity inherent in a comfortable home.

I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to our talented and creative designers; our media partner, Orange County Register and Coast Magazine; the homeowners and builder, who worked with us in this cooperative venture; the dedicated Philharmonic volunteers who have tirelessly staffed this house; and the supportive guidance of my hard-working steering committee who generously gave of their time and energy.

Please visit our nearby Marketplace where you’ll find a wonderful selection of merchandise and a café that offers food, beverage, and wine. We sincerely hope you enjoy your visit with us today. We are honored to have had you as our guests!

It’s a great pleasure to welcome you to the 2016 Philharmonic House of Design! We’re thrilled to be able to open this beautifully transformed home here at The Strand at Headlands for you to tour and enjoy. The House of Design is one of our most important fundraisers, with every dollar raised going to provide the Philharmonic Society’s world-class music education experiences free-of-charge to 160,000 K–12 students in our county each year. We know these programs inspire a life-long love of music in many of the young people they reach, and I want to thank you for joining us today to make them possible.

I want to also take this opportunity to thank the wonderful volunteers whose tireless efforts bring this project to life — Toni Sobel, our House of Design Chairman; the La Casa Committee under the leadership of Sandy Krogh; Sabra Bordas, Immediate Past Chairman of the Philharmonic Society’s Board of Directors; our 800 Philharmonic Committees members led by Committees President Sandi Wright-Cordes, who give their time in so many ways; and the magnificently talented designers whose artistry you’ll see displayed in every room. Thank you to all of you for coming together to make this project a reality once again, and congratulations!

As the Philharmonic Society’s 62nd season draws to a close, I want to thank each of you for coming out to support what we do. Thanks for being a part of the Philharmonic Society and for visiting the House of Design. I know you’ll enjoy it!

John Mangum, President & Artistic Director, Philharmonic Society of Orange County

The Committees of the Philharmonic Society welcome you to the 24th Philharmonic House of Design in this spectacular oceanfront community of The Strand at Headlands. And our outstanding design team has incorporated their individual creative styles to produce a one-of-a-kind design experience. The House of Design is a unique collaboration of our Steering Committee (drawn from Philharmonic Committees throughout the county), our professional design team of 15 designers, La Casa Support Committee, hundreds of docent volunteers from The Committees, and Philharmonic Society administrative staff. As our primary annual fundraiser for the Philharmonic Society Youth Music Education Programs, the success of this House of Design is vital to our ability to fund the programs that nurture a love and appreciation of music.
