There are so many reasons to come out to Downtown Santa Ana’s monthly art walk, but just in case you’re still on the fence, here’s another. On April 2, art walk participant Trial Werks: Backsy Networks is donating a portion of proceeds to Japanese relief projects through Global Giving.

“It’s a tragedy what happened to our brothers and sisters across the sea and we wanted to do something fun and creative to raise money and motivate the community to show some love and donate,” says artist Jason Liwag, who is also one of the event’s key directors, along with Derek Doi and Oliver Stahel. “We are asking the artists to donate a minimum of 50% but are encouraging them to donate more.”

Participating artists include Derek Doi, Colter Freeman, Patrick Starr, Marcella Treybig, Erin Clark, Becky Lewis, Kim Tang, Suzanne Campana, Roy Oldenkamp, Stuter, Alfie Numeric, and more.

“A majority of us grew up in Orange County and some still live there,” Liwag says. “What better way to help and raise awareness than with an art show to support Japan, local artists and bring the community together?”
