The sweet, sweet thing called jazz is just a little bit sweeter at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach Summer Jazz Series. Every year, this popular event draws music lovers from all over the county each Friday night at 8 p.m. for a live jazz band playing cool tunes against the backdrop of the sun setting on Back Bay.
Tickets for this outdoor affair range from $40 to $95 - the high end for a ticket that includes the smooth jazz buffet that can be enjoyed in the Sol Restaurant or on the outdoor terrace.
The lineup of acclaimed artists, though all jazz, range from jazz-fusion group The Rippingtons, scheduled to play August 27, and recently added funk-based instrumental jazz musician Brian Culbertson on September 3 to big band and beyond.
