With 453,000 members in Orange County, Kaiser Permanente is the largest health maintenance organization (HMO) in the county by far – and now Kaiser has a second brand new Orange County hospital to serve its membership. Four years after opening its $370 million, 150-bed hospital and medical building in Irvine, Kaiser has now opened a $425 million, 262-bed hospital in Anaheim.
The new six-floor Anaheim hospital includes 17 operating rooms, 36 emergency bays, 24 pediatric beds, and 20 neo-natal beds. The facility employs 2,000 people – 100 new personnel and the remainder coming from Kaiser’s former hospital in Anaheim, the old Canyon General Hospital on Lakeview Avenue.
The entire 27-acre new medical campus on La Palma Avenue – including the land, the hospital, two medical buildings, and parking for 1,500 vehicles – cost $650 million.
