Who would of thought that Orange County would be taking on Hollywood when it comes to filmmaking? But according to OC/SD Film & Video News, the number of local production houses has doubled in the last five years.

We all know Orange County has been used as a setting in films such as Orange County, starring Jack Black, and hit TV shows like The Real Housewives of Orange County and Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, but now it has evolved into a whole new story. OC is becoming a community where film artists can live and work.

Perhaps that is why Kimera Restaurant/Lounge is holding a contest for Orange County’s budding filmmakers.

The contestants must make a 15-second, family-friendly commercial that illustrates why Kimera is an Orange County landmark. The winning film will be shown every day for an entire year, before every movie, at the Edwards Island Cinemas in Newport Beach. The winner will also receive a $200 gift certificate to be redeemed at the restaurant.

Those interested to receive this opportunity for exposure can send their submission either by mail to Karyn at Kimera, 19530 Jamboree Rd., Irvine, CA, 92612 or by e-mail at Karyn@Kimerarestaurant.com. A good, old-fashioned hand delivery to a manager at Kimera works also.

All submissions will be judged on creativity and style. The submission deadline is Wednesday, October 14 and the winner will be announced on Friday, October 16. Kimera is located at 19530 Jamboree Rd. in Irvine. For more information: kimerarestaurant.com
