As part of breast cancer awareness month, Spa Gregorie’s and Macy’s are hosting the sixth annual Knit One, Cure Too knit-a-thon on October 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Macy’s Fashion Island. All proceeds from the knit-a-thon will be donated directly to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

More than 45 knitters, some of whom are breast cancer survivors themselves, will be making more than 300 articles of clothing and accessories, ranging from socks and scarves to caps and baby items. In addition to the 45 knitters, Girl Scouts Laguna Beach Troop 308 lent their hands by making scarves, prior to the event, to sell. Each piece will cost anywhere from $5 to $40, with the average price being $10.

Over the years, Knit One, Cure Too has earned approximately $20,000 dollars to donate to breast cancer research. This year, the event is expected to have its biggest turnout.

Spa Gregorie’s will also be selling knitted items for the fundraiser at its Newport Beach and Rancho Santa Margarita locations. Knit One, Cure Too is open to the public to attend and help raise money for breast cancer awareness.
