Musician Close-up: Boh Doran

"Ever since I could move, I had the music and rhythm in my bones and was always putting on a show," says LA-based musician Boh Doran. "Once I could move around and interact with friends, I was putting together little plays and music shows, choreographing and singing to all those pop singers like Mariah Carey and Madonna."

Boh Doran is making music work in LA: "I was in New York for five years before L.A., and the first draw for me was the ability to collaborate. People have the time and energy to always get together and step out. I've been meeting people left and right, and writing with them."

Boh Doran says she has learned to be very particular about who she works with musically. "You have to be moved by someone and what their doing to collaborate with them as a writer, band mate, or producer. Everyone has a unique musical message. There's an art in finding the people that can bring that out of you."

If she wasn't a musician she would be a teacher, says Boh Doran. "I've always liked working with youth- speaking, getting them creatively empowered.
