Mothers and Daughters Take the Runway

The Newport Chapter of National Charity League, Juniors’ annual mother-daughter luncheon always features a fabulous runway fashion show of spring styles. Saks Fifth Avenue has hosted the fashion extravaganza for many years, with mothers and daughters along with professional models lighting up the runway. Held at the Balboa Bay Club & Resort, the upbeat women’s and girls’ styles included a dose of prints – abstracts, polka dots, stripes, florals, and animal. The color palette swung from neutrals – black and white, gray, blush, and khaki – to corals, pinks, blues, and greens. The trusted jean was prevalent, especially with girls' fashion, but denim for women’s fashion showed up in jackets, skirts and dresses as well. Sheer lingerie looks, tie-dye prints, cropped pants and trenches, and short shorts were other standouts.
