Blink and it’ll be summer… and many of us (yes, me) haven’t even started thinking about putting our fitness resolutions into action. Well, here’s our chance to get fit and healthy and babe-like all in one swift membership.

Orangetheory Fitness, with locations across the country, opened its first California studio in January in Newport Beach and promises weight loss of up to eight pounds per week with an average of three to four classes per week.

The workout is based on the theory called “Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption,” or EPOC, according to orangetheoryfitness.com. With the help of heart rate monitors provided to guests, trainers monitor participants during the 60-minute workout in order to produce EPOC, which is the workout “after-burn” effect. The Orangetheory interval training is designed to produce a 200-400 calorie increase to each participant’s metabolism 24-36 hours after the workout. And that’s in addition to the average of 600-1000 calories burned per class through the interval-based use of advanced treadmills, rowing machines and TRX suspension straps.

It might be just what we need to get stronger and slimmer.
