Rugs by fashion designers and artists
Seize the day and stylize your space with rugs by fashion designers and artists
If floors really are the “fifth wall” of a room, suitable for displays of art and design, rug makers are taking note, producing hand-made couture carpets designed by fashion stars such as Diane Von Furstenberg and Alexander McQueen and limited editions by heavyweight artists. The contemporary artist Richard Prince, known for his collages of all-American imagery, used numbered baseball jerseys to create a free-form rug for Henzel Studio, above, which adds a graphic punch to any room and will certainly find favor among sports fans. Even graffiti writers and street-savvy legends like Shepard Fairey, the scourge of property owners, have had their work elevated into provocative and unexpectedly plush rugs that leave their art on the floor.
