Throwback threads: Fall runway fashion this year was all about the ’80s. From New York to Paris, models wore gold lamé, crop tops and shoulder pads. With these old-school trends in mind, we styled Orange County School of the Arts acting students in back-to-school garb inspired by the late John Hughes’ movie, “The Breakfast Club.”

Tim Appelo, a film critic for TheWrap.com, weighed in on why the movie still resonates. “The movie took teens’ yearnings seriously, and teen yearning is like a standing wave — it never ends. The film anticipates the talky dramas of today, the hypersensitive focus on the ordinary, furtive glances, real life as it’s lived moment to moment.”
