Throwback Threads

The Rebel, played by Kieran Hayag, 15, of Irvine Red Wing boots, $250; Black Publish jogger pants, $90; Roark Army green T-shirt, $60; Huff plaid shirt, $60, all from The Fort; Marc by Marc Jacobs leather backpack, $498, Bloomingdale's

Fall runway fashion this year was all about the ’80s. From New York to Paris, models wore gold lamé, crop tops and shoulder pads. Tim Appelo, a film critic for TheWrap.com, weighed in on why the movie still resonates. “The movie took teens’ yearnings seriously, and teen yearning is like a standing wave — it never ends. The film anticipates the talky dramas of today, the hypersensitive focus on the ordinary, furtive glances, real life as it’s lived moment to moment.”
