What do you mean you’ve never heard of Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern? Hello. It’s famous. Well, it’s gaining quite the reputation in Orange County at least. With a concept inspired by a military colonel who taught his simplistic cooking style to his son, Jimmy, JFAT is touted as “fry cook meets foodie.”
But it isn’t just the food that is bringing them in droves. The large bar at the center of the restaurant serves up boutique wine, craft brewed beers and handcrafted cocktails.
Did we mention there’s a happy hour? Yep. Monday through Friday, 4 to 6 p.m. Small and large plates like turkey chili with cheddar cheese and sour cream or fire-grilled flatbread with pear, black fig jam, gorgonzola, fontina, prosciutto, and fresh arugula start at $4. Draft beers are $2 off, well cocktails are $4 and specialty JFAT happy hour cocktails are priced at $5.
