Coliseum Pool & Grill at The Resort at Pelican Hill (949.467.6800, pelicanhill.com) will celebrate Father’s Day at Pelican Grill, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., with a three-course a la carte brunch menu, and a la carte dinner specials. A brunch buffet will take place at the Coliseum Pool, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., featuring California cuisine by Chef Marc. Cost, $55 per adult, $25 per child under age 12. During Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends, the Coliseum Pool will focus on classic grill food favorites.

On June 7, 5-8 p.m. The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel (949.240.2000, ritzcarlton.com) will host Yappy Hour, a cocktail party for canines and their companions, on the Dana Lawn. On June 28, the hotel’s Chef’s Table Dinner will present A Sneak Peak of Summer, dishes highlighting the best of seasonal produce. Limited to 16 guests, the dinners, paired with wine, are held in the private dining room and are priced at $169 per person, all inclusive.

Once a sustainable seafood food truck, SlapFish is now a grounded seafood shack in Huntington Beach (714.963.3900, slapfishsocal.com). Casual and fast paced, the two young owners, Chef Jeff Andrew Gruel and Jethro Naude, are totally dedicated to serving innovative, healthy and high-quality seafood dishes. Look for their popular lobsticle on a stick, seared fish tacos, freshly-shucked oysters from Carlsbad Aqua Farms, and organic shrimp seared on cast iron skillet.

Wednesday nights, 5-7 p.m., are Microbrew Nights at Kimera (949.261.1222, kimerarestaurant.com). Five unique microbrews are showcased, and beer connoisseurs may sample them in 3 oz. pours. The $15 fee includes a complimentary order of skinny fries and a companion aioli dipping sauce. A happy hour menu, featuring $4 and up bites, is on hand to go along with the beers.

On June 22-24, the 34th Annual Greek Festival will be held at St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Irvine (irvinegreekfest.com). The three-day festival will feature traditional Greek cuisine, recipes, wine tasting, live music, authentic Greek dancing with lessons, and boutique booths reminiscent of the Plaka. Opening night is Friday, 5-10 p.m.; on Saturday, noon-10 p.m.; and Sunday, noon-9 p.m. Admission is $3 per person, children under 10 free. Seniors 65 and over get in free on Saturday noon-5 p.m.

On June 23, 11 a.m., Charlie Palmer at Bloomingdale’s South Coast Plaza (714.352.2525, charliepalmer.com) will present a BBQ Cooking Class at Bloomingdale’s. Following the demonstration class, guests will proceed to the Charlie Palmer private dining room to enjoy a multi-course barbecue menu. Cost, $85. Reservations required.

Tabu Grill (949.494.7743, tabugrill.com) has introduced Wine Lover’s Sunday. A 50% wine discount will be offered to dinner guests who purchase two entrees.

Las Vegas-based Makino Sushi (949.724.1204, makinobuffet.com) has made its California debut at Executive Park in Irvine. More than 60 items are offered buffet style, including a wide array of sushi, salads, seafood, shrimp, vegetable tempura, and chicken teriyaki. Desserts, made at a patisserie in Japan, are included. The restaurant is open daily for lunch at 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Dinner served nightly from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Blackmarket Bakery in Irvine (949.852.4609, blackmarketbakery.com) is offering Summer Baking Classes. June 5, learn the art of the Italian Baker, 6-9 p.m. On June 18, 6-9 p.m., the hands-on class will be on Old School Retro Desserts. These classes are $72 each.

Renowned French Pastry Chef Stephane Treand has opened The Art of Pastry in San Clemente (stephanetreand.com, info@stephanetreand.com). The pastry school is for beginners, pastry lovers and/or those looking for a career in the food industry. Classes offer two-, three- and 24-week programs that cover all aspects of pastry. Classes are taught by internationally recognized pastry chefs.

Qzina Specialty Foods in Irvine (949.208.8462, qzina.com) has opened a Qzina Institute of Chocolate and Pastry, a world-class training and R&D facility for chocolatiers, pastry chefs and food enthusiasts. Housing a state-of-the-art demonstration auditorium, the facility also has North America’s first-ever Bean to Bar chocolate lab for making chocolate from start to finish. Customers can order the best products from Qzina’s industry leading brands of professional chocolate, dessert and pastry ingredients. The Institute and showroom are open Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Casey’s Cupcakes has opened a fourth location at the Woodbury Town Center in Irvine (caseyscupcake.com) with its signature pink and black Parisian café-inspired motif. Sixteen signature cupcake flavors are available, as well as a flavor of the month, and sugar-free and gluten-free options.

In celebration of Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill turning 20, the company will simultaneously contribute to charity and have a weekly drawing for a $50 gift card.
