Despite concerns expressed by nearby residents, Irvine’s University High School is in line to get a sports stadium. The Irvine Unified School District approved funding for an $8.4 million stadium to be built on the north side of the University High School campus at Culver Drive and Campus Drive near UC Irvine.

Although Irvine has four high schools, the schools share a single sports stadium at Irvine High School in the northern part of the city. When the new 2,940-person stadium is completed, it will be shared by University and Woodbridge High Schools. No time frame has been determined.
