For the past 14 New Year’s Eves, Christopher and Ann Crabtree have returned to the sands of Laguna Beach to renew the promises they made to each other on their wedding day. Denver is their home, Santa Fe, New Mexico is the town where they married, but “Laguna Beach is our romance place,” Christopher says.
The sweethearts begin their private ceremony by drawing a heart in the sand. Then they hold hands and look into each other’s eyes while professing their love. The couple seals each year’s vows with a kiss as the sun sets into the Pacific, the waves at once washing away what was and pushing forward what is to be in this eternal dance of continuity.
