FBLA WELCOMES guest SPEAKER

The Future Business Leaders of America club at Canyon High welcomed Amanda Wyatt as the first speaker in its new Industry Speakers Series.

Wyatt, a Canyon Class of 1992 alumna, is a voice-over director, well known in the burgeoning video game industry for casting and directing such titles as “Halo 4,” “Assassin’s Creed,” “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” “Crackdown 2,” “Prince of Persia” and more. She shared strategies and highlights from her 20-year career, including working at Soundelux and serving as a panelist at Comic-Con.

The FBLA club, under the direction of adviser Susan Damon, plans quarterly speaker events in its Industry Speaker Series.

VETERANS HONORED AT LINDA VISTA

Fifth-grade students at Linda Vista Elementary hunted for old photos and interviewed family to gather biographies of family members who had served in the U.S. armed forces. The information was shared at a special school-wide ceremony honoring our veterans.

School librarian Linda McCausland coordinates the project each year, helping students discover and appreciate the family members who served.

In a colorful public tribute, each student selected a star on a poster on which to write a special message or tribute. The patriotic posters, decorated with red and blue star-shaped balloons, were hung on the fence facing Cannon Street, in thanks to all of the veterans.

The community is invited. Tacos will be available for purchase. Admission for this fundraiser is $5 per person, $2 for students.

The hoops boosters will continue their alumni weekend with a restaurant fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday at LinX. The restaurant, located at 238. W.
