Bastille Day Salute: Honoring French Independence Day’s historical roots, Bistango will serve a special small plates menu and hand-picked selection of rosés in the Bistango Gardens, the restaurant’s 70-seat al fresco lounge. Executive Chef Christopher Meehan has crafted a number of items for the occasion including a Saint Angel brie with French lavender honey, walnuts, apples and grapes for $12; Pissaladière Flatbread Strips for $8; pork and liver black truffle pâté with baguette for $12; and French goat cheese with green olive tapenade served with peasant flatbread and assorted vegetables for $10. ‘Savor Santa Ana’: This event showcases dozens of downtown Santa Ana’s hottest restaurants. From 5 to 9:30 p.m., pick up a booklet of five taste tickets for $10 or upgrade to the Foodie Fast Pass and take advantage of shorter lines, more tastings, drink tickets and a VIP experience for only $45. Start at the Ticket and Info Booth at the DTSA Farmers’ Market (located on Spurgeon between 3rd and 4th Streets) or at the secondary ticket booth at the Artists’’ Village Promenade (in front of 125 N. “Wines and Wishes” Wine Festival: At a wine tasting event to benefit Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire, wine lovers can sample bottles from nearly 20 boutique and renowned wineries including Justin Vineyards, Cakebread Cellars and Rombauer Vineyards, along with bites from Kaleidoscope’s restaurants. There will be live jazz, raffles and more. 6-9 p.m. at Kaleidoscope Center, 27741 Crown Valley Parkway, Mission Viejo. Pre-sale tickets are $55 per person or $100 per couple, and will be $60 per person at the door. Limited tickets are available for the VIP experience at $75 per person. Second Annual “Big Bite Bacon Fest”: Dozens of local restaurants and chefs will offer sample dishes with their own spin on the star ingredient – bacon.
