City tree should be in center of town

After living in Fountain Valley 45 years, it is sad not (to) see a lighted Christmas tree at our Civic Center. I know how folks will say it is better at a “Sports Park,” but you will never convince me.

Going north on Brookhurst, it’s behind a building and as you pass it you would need to turn around to see it. Ok, Ok, for you naysayers you can see the top of it. Also, it sure isn’t anywhere near the center of our city either. Open a map; our Civic Center is the center of our City not the sports park. Yeah, a bunch of white lights on the shrubs shows the Christmas Spirit, yep “What a Nice Place to Live.”

While I’m being picky, I’ve just got to say something about the eyesore in front of city hall; the non-working fountain of Fountain Valley. Right, I know water conservation and all but a certain city council person told me it leaks so much water we can use it.

WHAT? Where is the contractor?

I watch comercials multiple times a day about a guy with a product that he rolled on the bottom of 2 different boats with a paint roller he made of screen door material and it doesn’t leak and our City can’t fix leaky concrete. Please give me a break. And WATER…we’ve got a water purification plant in Fountain Valley that makes water so good Huel Howser drank it right on TV. If the City can pipe it into the ground and over to Mile Square Golf Courses and another certain green belt at a lower rate than we pay for domestic drinking water, why can’t the city truck some over in a water tank to keep it full what is lost to evaporation.

Geez, you wonder why some of us try to vote in new council members.
